If you ban a member from your forum for a certain period of time, is that final, or do you often reconsider your decision, and then maybe cut the punishment short? What are your thoughts?

I allow for banned members to write a 250 word essay if they wish to return before the ban period. If they do not take the time to do that, then I leave the ban as is. However, if they write the essay and I feel they truly are sorry for the occurrence, then I may lift the ban.

It depends what they did wrong, and then we(the staff) will discuss if they deserve to return to the forum.

It depends what they are banned for. I havent had to ban a member in ages. I havent had spammers for over a year.
But if it was a member and they wanted to return, discussions would take place between me and my staff.

If it's a permanent ban, then it's permanent. There are no ifs ands maybes or buts about it. However, if it's a minor offense, then I'd think about letting them return.
