I'm curious; how do you allow your members to have their account activated? Do you have your settings set to where after registration, the registering user is automatically activated? Do you have the settings set to where the registering user needs to verify an email notification? Or, do you have it where only administration can accept new members?

Instant activation is set here.
But on Cmt Sports Forum, I have Admin Approve only set.

I hate forums without auto activation. Green Gateway has it.

I hate forums without auto activation. Green Gateway has it. Sometimes it is necessary to keep some people off the forums that use proxies to spam and advertise.

It depends the popularity and conflicts around the boards for me to decide. I usually start instant. If bots overtake the place I will make it email activated, staff activation is just the last resort to me.
Currently, ROCZUZ has it in INSTANT ACTIVATION.

I use instant activation, I find it annoying to have to go to my email to get an activation code.

I use Instant Activation most of the time unless it becomes an issue where spam bots or something are attacking the site then I'll turn on e-mail activation, I don't care for making users activate there accounts :/

When I own a forum, I use email verification for activation of accounts. I like Instant Activation but I use email verification to stop/slow down spammers/spam bots. The only type of activation I hate is Admin Approve because you have to wait until the admin notice your request and he or she may be in vacation or forgot. The only time I think Admin Approve should be on is if you are getting attacked by spammers or your forum is for your clan/ Game Alliance.

I used to use email activiation, But I think I changed it a while back. I do alot of exchanges and having to keep going back and forth to my email gets rather annoying after a while.

I have it on email activation no matter what. No exceptions. This is because bots don't know how to click on links, so it definitely stops them from joining.
